About Real Charge Cost

Ask what an electric car costs to charge and you'll get a national average. That number can't tell you much, because your cost depends on your electricity rate — and rates vary by more than three to one across the US.

This site swaps the average for your numbers. The calculators do the math, and the articles explain what's behind it.

Where our numbers come from

Published utility rates, manufacturer specs, and public data — cited on the page where we use them. When a figure is an estimate, we say so and show the assumption behind it.

What we don't do

We don't write hands-on reviews, and we won't pretend to have driven cars we haven't. This site is research, not road tests.

How we make money

We earn a commission on some links. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
